With only two weeks left in the school year, the final championship round of the Debate Club is finally here! Our participants have worked incredibly hard, climbed the ladder, and gained valuable communication skills along the way. Now, it all comes down to this one ultimate debate, with the entire school as their audience.
Shamai Perez will go head-to-head against Yonatan Shafigi in the main Bet Midrash next Thursday, June 11th.
The debate will tackle the highly contested topic of qualified immunity. One side will argue that qualified immunity should apply to all cases involving law enforcement, while the other side will argue that it should only be applied in specific, limited scenarios. This age-old debate will explore how qualified immunity impacts accountability and legal protections for police officers.
The winner of the tournament will take home a cash prize of 25$. We look forward to watching these two amazing debaters face off!
