Valley Torah’s baseball team has undergone a significant transformation from a pathetic, winless team to champions in just a few years. Last week, the Wolfpack traveled to Columbus, Ohio to play in the perennial Columbus Baseball Invitational (CBI). This is the first time since 2017 (when the Wolfpack were Tier 1 Runners-up) that the baseball team has participated in any tournaments. At first, the team didn’t expect to do very well. In fact, they lost their first game to MTA by a crushing score of 11-1. After coming off another disappointing (yet improved) season, their success in the tournament shockingly proved a quiet but true belief that many players held: with enough practice and determination, they could turn the program around. Under the leadership of Coach Mark Stone, a “baseball junkie” with extensive experience, the Wolfpack won their last 3 games, beating Farber, Rambam, and Columbus Torah Academy, becoming the Tier 3 champions and taking home a beautiful trophy. This achievement marks a huge step in the success of the baseball program’s turnaround. Hopefully the team can carry this success into the next season and beyond.
