The upcoming 2026 NBA Playoffs seems to be one of the wildest postseasons in NBA history, especially when considering the vast array of teams with serious potential to reach the finals, like the OKC Thunder, Boston Celtics, and New York Knicks. The number of talent and veteran players in the league makes this year’s playoffs unpredictable and thrilling to watch.

As far as the Western Conference is concerned, both the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs have put up an impressive performance during the regular season. Both teams boast outstanding individual talent in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Victor Wembanyama, respectively. The OKC Thunder stand out due to their roster depth and team chemistry. Further, I believe teams such as the Detroit Pistons and Denver Nuggets can pull off some surprises during this year’s playoffs.

In the East, the two best basketball teams are the Detroit Pistons and the Boston Celtics, which are led by Cade Cunningham and Jayson Tatum, respectively. The Boston Celtics will threaten the rest of the East due to their swell performance on offense and defense, while the Pistons can advance further than most experts give them credit for because of their young, exciting squad. The Cleveland Cavaliers, led by Donavan Mitchell and James Harden, can make a deep run on account of their solid defense and playoff experience.

For me, the Oklahoma City Thunder will win back-to-back titles to emerge as the champion of the 2025-26 NBA season. The team is composed of superstars such as reigning-MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, defensive lockdown Chet Holmgren, and Pippen-adjacent Jalen Williams. I feel that they can do wonders in the playoffs and withstand the pressures that some teams cannot manage to cope with. In the finals, they will play against the Boston Celtics, beating them in six games.
