A couple of days ago, Valley Torah planned to raise $1 million in 36 hours. This money would be in order to support students with the need of financial aid to attend Valley Torah. Students helped raise money by sending personal links and calling their family and friends requesting their generosity. Also students were able to use a website called “Call manager” to call local Jewish people and ask them if they would be interested in contributing to the goal of 1 million dollars. Students would raise money every hour they had available, even during their breaks, at home, and during the second Gemara period. If students raised enough money for the fundraiser, their gemara shiur would be rewarded with incentives starting from a pizza party, all the way to a trip to Six Flags with a BBQ. For the first time in four years, the 10th grade shiur raised more money than the 9th grader shuir. This past Thursday students embarked on their well earned trip with 3 shiurim going to Six Flags and then enjoying a Pico dinner, one shuir going to Sky Zone, MB2, and Geschmack for dinner, a few shiurim enjoying a pizza lunch, and another shuir making steaks. All of this hard work was rewarding for the students and the school as it continues to provide a rich Jewish and secular education to its beloved students.
