Two weeks ago, the Sophomore class of 2026 embarked on a journey to San Diego to spend their Shabbat. Right after davening, we split up into comfortable vans and headed on our way to the beautiful city of San Diego. After a two-and-a-half hour drive, which felt like thirty minutes, we arrived at our first activity, Kayaking. We geared up and found a partner to sail the gorgeous La Jolla Sea. We were guided deep into the sea and we were shown incredible marine life. In addition, we observed the giant caves which hosted different species. Although it was very trying, it was well worth the effort. Not only did this activity foster a sense of adhus- unity, but it also exposed us to appreciate Hashem’s beautiful creation which he creates for our pleasure. After Kayaking we headed to our cozy motel in which we would spend our Shabbat.
Once we washed up and got ready for Shabbat, we went to an Orthodox Synagogue known as Beit Jacob. It was an astonishing building with many advancements and accommodations for us to enjoy. We davened Mincha and Arbit as a minyan of 10th-grade boys alongside the congregation. After we davened, we went to the side rooms where we enjoyed a delicious dinner ending with a Kumtiz and Rabbi Stulberger famous numbers game. While eating, we heard many Dvar Torahs given by students and Rebbim. In addition, we sang many songs with our fellow peers, making memories I will never forget. We then headed back to the motel where we spent the rest of our night there.
In the morning we were woken up and got dressed to head to Shul for Shacharit. We davened and enjoyed another delicious meal. Then we split up into groups to learn some practical Torah. We also played another one of Rabbi Stulberger’s famous games, the Pyramid Game. Once we davened Mincha and Arbit, we headed back to the motel and got ready for our intense sports tournament. We played many close games and all of a sudden, the Rebbim called us to leave. We went to a new pizza store where we devoured sizzling pizza along with french fries. We finally headed back to the motel and packed our bags as tomorrow we were going to start returning.
The next morning we were awakened by our Rebbim and went to daven Shacharit at the same shul. Once we davened, we relished a large breakfast and packed our lunches. We then embarked on our journey back. On the way back, we stopped by Boomers where we enjoyed different attractions such as mini golf, go-karting, rides, and so much more. After this “quick” pit stop, before you know it, we were on our way back to Valley Torah.
This will definitely be one of my highlights of Valley Torah. I became even closer to my friends and Rebbim and had an amazing time. I am so happy I had such an opportunity to be part of this trip.
