The Bitachon club at Valley Torah is a great opportunity for students to increase their Bitachon- strong trust in Hashem. In order to have Bitachon one must not only believe in Hashem-emunah- but should also have trust in him. A metaphor we learned was that having emunah is the tree and the fruits of the tree are Bitachon. To have good fruits, the tree has to be good, the same applies to having good emunah which results in a greater Bitachon. During the Bitachon club, Rabbi Segal and his students meet every Wednesday during Breakfast and discuss the importance of Bitachon and how it can alter one’s perception of the world.

One of the lessons discussed how Hashem provides everything in our lives. From the air we breathe, to the food on our plate, and even our ability to see– all is given to us by Hashem. Our body and our capability to live is provided by Hashem. But why? Why is it necessary that we see or taste or hear? In the end, Hashem wants us to enjoy our life and everything within it. This can only be achieved with what Hashem decides to provide us with. We have eyes to witness His creations, we have a mouth to speak his language, and we have ears to hear His Torah. Hashem provides us with gifts, not only to enjoy his world, but because those gifts are important for us to fulfill our purpose. Yet Hashem still wants us to recognize that he is the source of all blessings and that he will provide when necessary. If someone does not have something, it is because Hashem does not want that person to have that thing yet. For example, you have to pay $500 for rent but you don’t have that much money. Having Bitachon means knowing that Hashem will provide you with the money. If Hashem doesn’t provide the money, then it must mean that you do not need it. It’s important to understand that Hashem provides when he sees we are in need, but when he does not see fit, Hashem won’t provide. In other words, Hashem knows what is best for us and what isn’t, and although we may not notice it, we can’t judge Hashem’s plan because whatever he does is for a reason. Having Bitachon will only strengthen your trust and belief in Hashem, thus making it easier to follow Hashem’s plans without question.
