Over the second half of this semester, roughly 4-8 Yeshiva students from Yeshiva Chafetz Chaim visited the Valley Torah boys campus to learn gemara with students. These boys first appeared at the Pico Oneg at Rabbi Grama’s house, where they introduced themselves to everyone and got to know the students. Most days, they would daven in the Beit Medrash, eat breakfast, play basketball with us as well. We would also usually have some light conversation with them and then they would learn chavruta style with us or join Rabbi Stulburger’s shiur. Each gemara class had gotten a couple of chances to learn with them, helping students deepen their understanding of Gemara and their connection with these yeshiva students. Outside of school, they would come to Valley Torah sports games, most notably the YULA basketball and soccer games. They also participated in trips to Six Flags and Utah along with the students, increasing the fun in those trips. One Shabbat, they slept at Rabbi Lichtman’s house to join the Tarzana Oneg, having dinner with the 11th-grade boys and coming to Rabbi Loloyan’s shul. As they leave at the end of the first semester, we would like to thank them for coming to Valley Torah and connecting with the students in so many different ways.
