The morning started off like any other in Rabbi Samuel’s shiur. Things flowed like usual until the 10:15 break, when everyone jumped out the door, ready for the upcoming activities. The first stop was breakfast at “Burecas” where the menu did not disappoint. True to its name, the options were diverse, from flaky burecas, fragrant za’atar and magarita/cheeze burecas. After enjoying their breakfast, Rabbi Samuel’s shiur took a detour to Ralphs to grab supplies for the upcoming barbecue. They tossed whatever they could into the cart, chips, soda and especially the meat.
After raiding Ralphs, they made their way to MB2 racing, the highlight of the day. The place was a hidden gem, nothing too fancy but the place was completely empty. As the students buckled in, the roar of the engines filled the air adding to the spark of excitement and competition emanate from each of the kids. The go karts were perfect with a strong output of power and speed, along with good grip to the floor. Near the end of the race, three kids were head to head, so close to the finish line. One made a risky move and tried to overtake the other, and it ended in a huge pile up. In the end, none of them got close to the top 5.
Post-race, the kids calmed down with a nice barbecue at Rabbi Samuel’s house. The atmosphere was calm, with fries, snakes and a variety of drinks. Rabbi Samuel generously fired up a second round of stakes, making sure no kid left hungry. Everyone brought something, whether it be chips or soda.
The day was soon winding down at 3:30pm, as kids began to trickle their way out of the barbecue and to home. Happy, full and relaxed from an exhilarating day.
Thanks to all the staff and students who were able to make this amazing day possible!
